PHILADELPHIA - West Chester University tied its season high with a 193.25 and placed second in a women's gymnastics quad meet inside The Palestra Sunday afternoon.
The Golden Rams equaled their season-opening score at the Little Boston Invitational last month, falling just .2 of a point shy of host UPenn, which won the quad meet with a 193.425. ECAC rival Bridgeport was behind West Chester with a 192.45 while William & Mary finished fourth with a 191.95. The Golden Rams did not count a fall in the meet on Sunday.
Junior
Jessica Meakim (Downingtown, Pa.) won the all-around with a season-high 38.925. That performance was highlighted by a second-place showing on the floor exercise with a 9.85. She scored an identical 9.75 on both the vault and the uneven bars and a 9.625 on the balance beam.
Freshman
Kiah Johnson (Philadelphia) put on a show in front of her hometown crowd in the iconic arena. She established a new career-best in the vault with a 9.825 and won the event. In her first appearance on the beam, Johnson posted a 9.725. She was second behind Meakim on the floor with a career high 9.8.
Melanie Wojewoda (Cincinnati, Ohio) placed third on the bars with a 9.775.
West Chester heads back to the City of Brotherly Love for the Pink Invitational on Friday evening.
