Golden Rams Win Final Home Game 85-71, Six Score In Double Figures

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University women's basketball closed out its 2019-20 home schedule with an 85-71 victory over Millersville University on Wednesday night at Hollinger Field House.

Six Golden Rams reached double-digit point totals in the victory. Redshirt senior guard Alexis Anderson (Allentown, Pa. / Louis E. Dieruff) had 20 points, freshman forward Sasha Marvel (Medford Lakes, N.J. / Caravel Academy) scored 16, senior guard Gabrielle Troisi (Norristown, Pa. / Pope John Paul II) dropped 14, freshman guard Leah Johnson (Columbus, N.J. / Notre Dame) added 13, senior forward Katherine Fisher (Rutledge, Pa. / Strath Haven) tallied 11 and junior center Justyn Roberts (Harrisburg, Pa. / C.D. East) chipped in with 10.

West Chester wasted no time taking advantage of Millersville as Anderson hit a jump shot to give the Golden Rams a 21-8 lead with 2:37 left in the first quarter. However, the Marauders went on an 11-0 run over the next 1:38 to bring the game within two.

Troisi delivered the momentum-changing blow by draining a shot from three-quarters court at the buzzer to close out the third quarter. The Golden Rams led 62-53 at that point.

West Chester led by double-digits for the majority of the fourth quarter. The Golden Rams led by as many as 15 when Roberts made a jumper with 6:57 left in regulation.

Marvel finished the game with a season-high 10 rebounds to go along with her 16 points. That's the first double-double of the freshman's career.

Anderson also had a well-rounded game by adding six rebounds and three steals to her team-high 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting.

Currently 9-17 overall and 7-14 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action, the Golden Rams play their final game of the season on Saturday at East Stroudsburg. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
