WEST CHESTER, Pa. - No. 3-seed West Chester University men's basketball defeated No. 6-seed Lock Haven University 83-73 in the first round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament at Hollinger Field House on Monday night.

The Golden Rams will head to East Stroudsburg University to face the No. 2-seed Warriors in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Robbie Heath (Whittlesea, Australia / Abington) led all scorers with 33 points in Monday's victory, making 13-of-22 field goals and 5-of-8 three-pointers. Heath is up to 24.7 points per game this season, which now leads all freshmen across all three levels of NCAA basketball. At 692 points, Heath seeks to become the first player in West Chester men's basketball history to reach 700 in a single season.

Josh Samec (Trecksow, Pa. / Hazleton) drained a three that sent the Golden Rams on a 12-0 run. WCU took a 40-34 lead into halftime.

The Golden Rams were on fire to start the second half, and an emphatic dunk by Heath with 13:39 remaining in regulation gave the team a 16-point lead.

The Bald Eagles stayed in the game throughout, but WCU senior guard
Malik Jackson (Lansdowne, Pa. / Penn Wood) made his sixth triple of the game with 4:58 to go, giving the Golden Rams a 13-point advantage. Jackson finished with 24 points. He is up to 299 career three-pointers, which ranks second in school history behind 12th-year head coach
Damien Blair's 317. Jackson is also up to 1,810 points which slots him fourth in the program's all-time record book.

The Golden Rams went 13-for-23 from beyond the arc, recording their highest percentage from three in a game this season at 56.5 percent.

West Chester has now won a PSAC Tournament game in four of the last five seasons. Blair's record is 10-9 in PSAC Tournament games.

West Chester will face East Stroudsburg in East Stroudsburg, Pa., on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. with hopes of inching closer to its first PSAC Championship title since 1959.
