Meakim Named Scholar-Athlete of Year; WCU Places Seven on All-ECAC Squad

DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its Division II Women's Gymnastics postseason awards Monday. Among the major winners was West Chester's Jessica Meakim (Downingtown, Pa.), who was named the scholar-athlete of the year.
 
West Chester placed seven different gymnasts on each of the four events with Meakim appearing on both the floor exercise and all-around squads. Additionally, the Golden Rams placed a conference-best 15 gymnasts on the all-academic team.
 
Bridgeport was declared ECAC champions by virtue of its National Qualifying Score (NQS) after the cancellation of the championship due to COVID-19. West Chester University placed second followed by Southern Connecticut State University.

In recognition of their stellar season, the top six gymnasts (listed below in no particular order) in their event were recognized as All-ECAC. The teams are based off their NQS that the gymnasts accumulated during the season.

In addition to the All-ECAC teams for each event, there are a total of 37 student-athletes from the three institutions were recognized for their academic achievements. To be eligible for the all-academic team, student-athletes must have carried a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher.
