LOCK HAVEN, Pa.-
The West Chester women's cross country team is finalizing its preparations for its return to the course on Saturday afternoon at the Division II Atlantic Regional Championship meet hosted by Lock Haven University. The Women's 6k Championship race is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. with the men's race to follow at approximately 11:45 a.m.

Fans attending the Championships should be advised that parking will be $5 per vehicle. The women's 6k course map is also available here. Lock Haven has also launched a Championship Central page on its website with complete information on the Championships that will also be updated throughout the day tomorrow.

West Chester has eight student-athletes entered into the Championship as Alexandra Amin (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area), Megan Cook (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby), Emma Harris (Mansfield, Pa./North Penn-Mansfield), Abigail Marion (South Abington, Pa./Abington Heights), Victoria Mattioli (York, Pa./Red Lion), Allison Myers (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown), Sarah Supplee (Orefield, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh), and Erin Witter (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) are all scheduled to compete for West Chester on Saturday morning.

The last time West Chester competed was at the PSAC Championships hosted by Kutztown University back on October 22nd. On this day, Supplee registered the highest finish by a Golden Ram at the Championships since Diana Dunn back in 2017 when she finished in fifth with a time of 22:47.20. This impressive showing allowed the sophomore to capture First Team All-Conference honors and continue her stellar 2021 season, which she will assuredly look to build upon on Saturday afternoon. Cook was the second Golden Ram across the line last time West Chester competed as she finished in a time of 24:48.40 to finish 51st and help West Chester to a 13th-place team finish.

In addition to providing the opportunity to earn All-Region accolades, as the top-25 finishers are honored as United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honorees, the Regional meet also affords the opportunity to for teams and runners to qualify for the National Championship meet, which is scheduled to be held later in November. On the individual level, the top two individuals who are not part of a qualifying team automatically advance to the Championship meet as do all individuals who finish within the top-five and are not part of a qualifying team also automatically advance. For individuals who do not finish in one of these two categories, they will still have the chance to advance to the National Championship as the committee will also select eight individuals as at-large qualifiers.

From a team perspective, the top three teams on both the men's and women's side earn Automatic bids to the National Championship while the remaining may have the chance to be selected as one of 10 at-large teams selected by the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Cross Country National Committee.
