ASTON, PA – Luke Cantwell (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) smashed three home runs, and
Jack Slade tossed a gem in game two as West Chester swept a PSAC Eastern Division doubleheader from visiting Bloomsburg by the scores of 11-6 and 17-3 on a very windy, but warm and sunny, Friday afternoon at Maple Zone Sports Complex.
West Chester (5-1, 5-1 PSAC East) pounded out 12 hits in each contest, erasing a 5-1 deficit in the opener to pick up two big wins in a very tough Eastern Division over Bloomsburg (5-5, 5-5).
GAME ONE
- Cantwell went 3-for-3 with five RBI, including a solo shot in the fourth and a three-run blast in the fifth.
- West Chester scored five runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth, after forcing Bloomsburg starting pitcher, Chad Cooperman, from the game.
- The No. 6, 7 and 8 hitters in the Golden Rams' batting order went a combined 7-for-9 with eight RBI and nine runs scored.
- Joe Sperone (Broomall, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) picked up the win in relief to earn his first college win.
- Nick Picariello (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Academy) earned the save.
GAME TWO
- West Chester plated three in the first and seven in the second to offset a two-spot from Bloomsburg in the top of the first.
- Cantwell hit his third HR of the afternoon during that 7-run rally in the second while Justin Horn (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin) hit his third career grand slam.
- Matt Daller (Exton, Pa./Malvern Prep) provided a two-run single for the other scoring.
- Jack Slade (McLean, Va./McLean) threw six solid innings, yielding just two runs, only one of them earned, on three hits. He walked five and struck out five.
- Andrew Cantwell (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) finished up in the seventh. He allowed one run on two hits, striking out three.

- Sr. SS Justin Horn atoned for a hitless first game by going 2-for-3 in game two and seven RBI. He came to the plate three times with the bases loaded, hitting a grand slam his first opportunity. He also tripled in the game.
- West Chester heads to Bloomsburg, Pa., for a doubleheader at Litwhiler Field to conclude the four-game weekend series.
