Men's Soccer Picked To Win PSAC Eastern Division in 2021

LOCK HAVEN, PA - Entering his ninth season, head coach Michael Benn's men's soccer squad was picked to win the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division in a vote of league coaches it was announced last week.

West Chester, coming off a 15-4-1 overall record and a 9-2-1 PSAC mark in 2019, returns a bevy of talent, including United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region honorees in Craig Potts (Stewartstown, PA/Kennard-Dale) and Doug Goitia (Mount Pocono, PA/Pocono Mountain East). Potts was named the PSAC East Defensive Player of the Year in 2019, while Goitia was one of the club's most dangerous threats up top. He tallied eight goals, including three game-winners, and one assist on the season. West Chester, which has won a pair of regular-season titles (2017, 2018) is seeking its first overall championship

Two-time defending PSAC Champion Millersville was picked second in the East while another perennial power, East Stroudsburg, was slated third. West Chester received four of the seven first-place votes while Millersville picked up the remaining three. Lock Haven, Bloomsburg, Shippensburg and Shepherd rounded out the preseason poll, respectively.

West Chester opens the 2021 campaign next Thursday at home against non-league foe Jefferson at 4 p.m. at Rockwell Field on South Campus.
