NEW ORLEANS, LA – West Chester University senior multi star,
Maddie James (York, Pa./York Suburban), was named all-academic by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) it was announced last week.
Scholar Athletes of the Year and All-Academic Athletes for the 2021 NCAA Division II Women's Track & Field seasons were announced last Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Overall, there were more than 375 women who were named All-Academic Athletes in NCAA Division II Women's Track & Field.
James finished her undergraduate degree from West Chester with a 3.98 cumulative grade-point average in Integrative Biology. On the track, she won the individual Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship in the heptathlon with 4,681 points.
The criteria to be named an NCAA Division II All-Academic Athlete is:
- Must have completed at least 24 semester hours/36 quarter hours through the end of the semester of competition at the institution.
- Transfer students and/or graduate students are to include only grades earned at the current nominating institution.
- The student-athlete must have achieved an automatic-or provisional qualifying mark (individual or relay event) for either the indoor season or outdoor season.
Additionally, the Golden Rams' women's track & field team collectively posted a GPA of 3.71 to appear on the team's honor list.
