West Chester Places Third at Towson Quad Meet; Tops GEC Foe Wm & Mary

MEET RESULTS

TOWSON, MD – West Chester's women's gymnastics squad won the uneven bars while Kiah Johnson (Philadelphia) placed second on the vault to lead the Golden Rams to a third-place showing at Towson University in a quad meet inside SECU Arena Friday night.
 
West Chester (4-2) topped Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) opponent William & Mary with a 192.6 to the Tribe's 191.05 in the process. Host Towson edged West Virginia 194.15-194.00 to take the top spot at the quad.
 
Johnson scored a 9.8 on the vault finishing .025 behind Brooke Alban from West Virginia. McKenna Kissinger (Chambersburg, Pa.) earned a new personal best on the vault with a 9.675. Kiley Fred (Highland Mills, N.Y.) posted a 9.65.
 
Johnson also led the Golden Rams on the balance beam with a 9.625. Caroline Cascadden (Ashburn, Va.) and Rose Fanara (Fredericksburg, Va.) were right behind with a 9.6 each.
 
On the bars, Jessica Meakim (Downingtown, Pa.) led West Chester with a 9.7. Jordan Coleman (Bowie, Md.) and Samantha Kelly (Mullica Hill, N.J.) each posted a 9.65 as the Golden Rams scored a 48.15 – the only team score above 48.00 among the four participants.
 
Meakim and Fanara led all Golden Rams with an identical 9.75 while Kissinger earned a 9.7. Meakim scored a 38.4 in the all-around.
 
West Chester's gymnasts will be back in action next Sunday (Jan. 23) in a dual meet against GEC opponent Cornell inside Newman Arena at Bartels Hall beginning at 1 p.m. The meet can be seen on ESPN+.
