LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - West Chester University freshman quarterback
Cooper Jordan (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week in football it was announced Monday afternoon. Jordan is the first Golden Rams gridiron player to be honored by the conference in its weekly awards this fall.
Jordan engineered a pair of touchdown drives in the fourth quarter, including a 15-yard TD toss with 16 seconds left that capped the youngster's first game-winning fourth quarter comeback. He finished the day with 133 yards rushing on 12 carries. He also completed 7 of 16 passes for 62 yards, including the two TD passes late in the fourth quarter on WCU's final two possessions. Jordan's 133 rushing yards were the most by a WCU QB since A.J. Long rushed for 135 yards in the 2018 PSAC Championship Game against Slippery Rock.
The local product from nearby Bishop shanahan High School, leads West Chester with three touchdown passes. He is also third on the team in rushing with 187 yards and another score. His 6.4 yards per carry leads the team as well.
West Chester returns home Saturday to welcome No. 3 Shepherd (7-0, 4-0) to Farrell Stadium for a noon kickoff.
