Jackson Taylor Named PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week

LOCK HAVEN, PA - West Chester University Jr., LB Jackson Taylor (Glenside, Pa./Abington) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Defensive Athlete of the Week it was announced by that organization Monday afternoon. It is the first weekly honor for Taylor this year and the second for athlete of the week honor for West Chester overall.

Taylor recorded 11 tackles, including 1.5 sacks in leading West Chester to a 28-9 upset over Kutztown on the road Saturday. The Golden Rams' defense held Kutztown to under 260 yards of total offense and only single digits on the scoreboard. It was the Bears' lowest scoring output since Week 1. Kutztown's offense found the end zone only once on the afternoon. Taylor had four solo tackles and seven assisted stops on the day.

The defensive captain of the Golden Rams leads the team in tackles and ranks tied for seventh overall in the conference with 87 tackles. His 18 tackles for a loss this fall ranks third in the conference as well. Taylor was named to three preseason All-America squads and has certainly lived up to that billing in 2022.

West Chester (6-4) finished conference play at 4-3 as a result of the win. The Golden Rams will conclude their 2022 season Saturday on the road at Clarion University at 12 p.m.
