MEET RESULTS
COLLEGEVILLE, PA –
Jessica Meakim (Downingtown, Pa.) won two events, and teammates
Hyla Betts (Shannock, R.I.) and
Natalie Marshall (Bolton, Mass.) tied for the top spot on the balance beam as West Chester's gymnasts topped host Ursinus College, 192.825-188.25 Sunday afternoon.
Â
West Chester turned in another stellar performance overall just two days after competing in Virginia at William & Mary, putting up a nearly identical score. The Golden Rams took the top four spots on both the vault and the beam and took spots two through five on the bars.
Â
Betts and Marshall scored an identical 9.725 to tie for first place on the balance beam.
Madison Whitaker (Lancaster, Pa.) (9.7) placed third and
Caroline Cascadden (Ashburn, Va.) fourth (9.65).
Â
Meakim won both the vault and the floor exercise en route to the victory. She posted a 9.7 on the vault and a 9.8 on the floor for her two victories.
McKenna Kissinger (Chambersburg, Pa.) was second with a 9.625 and
Caitlin Allen (Forest Mill, Md.) third with a 9.6.
Annie Bailey (Chelmsford, Mass.) finished fourth with a 9.525. Kissinger tied Ursinus' Alyssa DeLorme for second on the floor right behind Meakim with a 9.75.
Brashlyn Johnson (Aynor, S.C.) was fifth with a 9.7.
Â
DeLorme won the uneven bars with a 9.8. However,
Jordan Coleman (Bowie, Md.), Samantha Kelly (Mullica Hill, N.J.),
Lauren Wicker (East Berlin, Pa.) and Betts took the next four spots, respectively, to give West Chester a nice showing. Coleman scored a 9.75 while Kelly posted a 9.675, Wicker a 9.6 and Betts a 9.575.
Â
West Chester will be back in action on March 6 when the Golden Rams travel to Temple University for a quad meet with the host Owls, the University of New Hampshire and these very same Ursinus Bears. That meet gets underway next Sunday at 4 p.m.
