NORTH WALES, PA – Chestnut Hill right-handed pitcher, Michael Kiefer, tossed a complete-game, two-hit shutout as the host Griffins downed visiting West Chester, 9-0, in a non-league baseball game Tuesday afternoon.
West Chester (17-6) dropped its third straight contest while Chestnut Hill (14-15) ended its three-game slide. The Griffins scored a run in both the first and second innings, before opening things up with a six-run third. They later added a tally in the sixth for the final scoring.
Keith Flaherty (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) and
Joe Kaleck (Southampton, Pa./Neshaminy) recorded the two hits for West Chester.
R.J. Kuruts (Forest City, Pa./Forest City) took the loss for the Golden Rams.
West Chester travels to Shepherd University on Friday for one, 9-inning contest as the Golden Rams step back into league play. They will return home Saturday for a doubleheader against the Rams on Saturday.
