James Tops Women’s Heptathlon Leaderboard After Day 1 of PSAC Championships

MILLERSVILLE, PA – Maddie James (York, PA / York Suburban)
resides at the top of the Women's Heptathlon leaderboard with 2,961 points after the first day of competition for the PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships inside Biemesderfer Stadium on the campus of Millersville University.
 
James started out the day in the heptathlon with a victory in the 100m hurdles, registering a time of 14.95 seconds and registering 848 points to take an early lead in the overall event standings.
 
Her second event of the heptathlon was another first-place victory in the high jump registering a mark of 5 feet, 5 ¼ inches and scoring 806 points.
 
James placed second in the shot put hitting a mark of 36-7 ½ ,which gave her another 606 points in her third event of the day, to continue leading the field in the overall standings.
 
In her final event of the day and fourth of the seven-event heptathlon, James placed fifth in 200m with a time of 27.13 for another 701 points, keeping her at the top of the event standings entering the second day of competition tomorrow.
 
Holding the Women's Heptathlon record in Biemesderfer Stadium is former IUP student-athlete Maddy Outman marking 4876 points in 2009.
 
James and the rest of the competing Golden Rams will back in action for day two of the PSAC Championships beginning at 10 a.m.
