No. 16 West Chester Heads To NCAA Tournament as Top Seed in Atlantic Region

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – West Chester University was selected to participate in the NCAA Division II Baseball Tournament it was announced on NCAA.com late Sunday night. The Golden Rams were selected as the No. 1 seed in the region and will host a three-team pod next weekend.
 
West Chester (29-11) will welcome Slippery Rock (33-16) and Seton Hill (31-17-1) to Serpico Stadium Thursday, May 19 thru Sunday, May 22. The winners of the two Atlantic Region first-round pods will play a best-of-3 Super Regional at the site of the highest remaining seed May 27-28. That winner will advance to the 2022 NCAA Division II National Championships in Cary, N.C. June 4-11.

Tickets to the NCAA Atlantic Region Tournament will be $10 per day for adults, $5 per day for students and senior citizens, $2 for children under two. No passes, or comp lists will be honored. All ticket sales will be sold onsite and will be CASH ONLY.
 
Head coach Mike LaRosa, in his second season at the helm of his alma mater, leads his Golden Rams into the NCAA Tournament for the first time. West Chester receives a bye and will play the loser of Slippery Rock vs. Seton Hill. The Rock and Griffins will play at 11 a.m. on Thursday. Game times on Friday are 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. again with an if-necessary contest on Saturday at 12 p.m.
 
The Golden Rams' inclusion in the NCAA Division II Tournament marks the fifth appearance in the last six postseasons competed and 17th time overall. West Chester shows a 41-29 (.586) record in the NCAAs. The Golden Rams won the Division II National Championship in both 2012 and 2017. They last qualified for the NCAAs in 2019 when the Rams hosted a first-round pod as the second seed in the Atlantic Region.
