WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released its women's track and field Academic All-District teams on Thursday afternoon and
Maddie James (York, Pa./York Suburban) was honored by the association for her efforts inside the classroom and on the track this past year.
James has had an outstanding 2021-22 season, winning a pair of Conference Titles as she captured the Pentathlon title at the PSAC Indoor Championships before winning the Heptathlon crown at the Outdoor Championships hosted by Millersville a few weeks ago. At the end of the Indoor season, James also qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships, competing in the Pentathlon and finishing 12
th with a score of 3,601 points, which allowed her to earn Second Team All-American honors from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) before earning Atlantic Region Field Athlete of the Year honors from the USTFCCCA. At the end of the outdoor season, James won her second consecutive PSAC Heptathlon crown with a score of 4,919 points, which was a new personal-best, the second-best mark in school history, and set a new Biemesderfer Facility record in the process.
The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Track and Field Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America program® separately recognizes track and field honorees in four divisions-NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
First Team Academic All-District honorees®, such as James advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America ® honorees will be announced in June.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
