West Chester Heads To PSAC Tournament Wednesday

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA
– West Chester University is set to take on Mercyhurst University on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at Jack Critchfield Park on the campus of Slippery Rock University in the first round of the 2022 PSAC Baseball Tournament. The first round is a single-elimination round with the rest of the tournament shifting to double elimination after the first day.
 
Tickets to the 2022 PSAC Baseball Tournament must be purchased each day and are good for all games that day. There are no multi-day passes. Wednesday and Thursday prices are $15 for adults and $7 for students. Friday and Saturday tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time by CLICKING HERE. Tickets will also be sold at the gate. Students from PSAC member institutions will be admitted free with a valid school ID. No comp tickets are available. Only PSAC passes will be honored.

West Chester begins its quest for the school's ninth conference crown overall and first since 2016 under second-year head coach Mike LaRosa. Bloomsburg is the two-time defending PSAC Tournament champion having won the title in both 2019 and again last year. Three of the Golden Rams' eight conference crowns have come since 2009.
 
The Golden Rams have qualified for the PSAC Tournament 19 times since 1983, including the last 10 years consecutively, dating back to 2012. West Chester is 35-25 all-time in the tournament coming away with the championship banner in 2016, 2012, 2009, 1985 and 1983. West Chester was also declared PSAC Champions in 1964, 1962 and 1959.
 
A win over Mercyhurst would propel West Chester into the quarterfinals and the double-elimination portion of the tournament with a game on Thursday at 2 p.m. against the winner of Gannon vs. East Stroudsburg.
