Box Score WEST CHESTER, PA – So., M Valerie van Kuijck (Denbosch, The Netherlands) scored a goal and assisted on two others as second-ranked West Chester University dispatched No. 8 Bentley, 5-1, in a non-league field hockey contest on a scorching Sunday afternoon at Vonnie Gros Field.

West Chester (2-0) defeated the fourth- and eighth-ranked teams in the country by a combined score of 15-2 in its opening weekend of action. Bentley (0-2) dropped its second straight contest to a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opponent following its 3-2 defeat at Millersville on Friday.

The Golden Rams got off to a fast start potting two tallies in the first three minutes of the contest off penalty corners. Morgan Becker (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) tipped in a shot from Jaclyn Charbonneau (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) in the first minute of the game to put the hosts on top right off the bat. It was Becker's first goal for her hometown team. Sophia Morrison (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) then re-directed a pass from Van Kuijck on the far post to double the Rams' lead.

Van Kuijck netted her second of the season in the 22nd minute of the game making it three markers on corners. That's the way the game stood until the final 15 minutes of the tilt.

Claudia Jaszczak (Coatesville, Pa./Downingtown West) banged home a rebound of a shot from Charbonneau in the fourth quarter to make it a 4-0 advantage. Bentley answered back with its lone tally of the game when Libby Harrison beat West Chester goalkeeper Megan Gula (Lincoln University, Pa./Avon Grove) 1-v-1 with 1:19 minutes left in the game.

Jasmine Miller (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) answered back 49 seconds later with her second of the year to restore the Golden Rams' four-goal lead and close out the scoring.

Gula went the distance in the cage, making one save. She didn't face a shot until the second half of the game. West Chester dominated the possession time not letting Bentley near its cage for the first 30 minutes.

West Chester hosts Mount Olive (N.C.) Friday at 3 p.m. at Vonnie Gros.
