West Chester Falls at Shepherd, 59-21

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV – Shepherd University ran out to a 31-7 lead by halftime and never looked back as the host Rams defeated visiting West Chester University Golden Rams, 59-21, at Ram Stadium Saturday afternoon.

West Chester (4-4, 2-3 PSAC East) dropped its second straight contest while Shepherd (7-1, 4-1) won its fourth straight game with the Homecoming win. The 59 points allowed by West Chester marked the first time an opponent put up more than 50 points in a game since a 54-51 overtime loss at Edinboro in 2016. It is the most points the Golden Rams have allowed in a game since a 61-12 defeat to Slippery Rock in the 2015 PSAC Championship Game.

Third-string quarterback T.J. Pergine (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford) played the second half and threw a pair of touchdown passes to R-Fr., WR Robby Longo (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) in his first game action of the fall. Dayshawn Jacobs (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) scored on a 7-yard run in the first quarter that initially gave the Golden Rams a 7-3 lead.

Pergine finished the day 6-for-12 for 73 yards and the two touchdowns. Longo's 17-yard TD catch and 5-yard TD reception were his lone two catches on the day. Starting QB Cooper Jordan (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) went 12-for-23 for 120 yards in the first half.

West Chester hits the road one more time next Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff against Lock Haven in a battle for fourth place in the league standings.
