Women's Tennis Competes at PSAC Individual Championships; Tingle Advances to Monday Quarterfinals

BLOOMSBURG, Pa.- The West Chester University women's tennis team returned to action on Sunday afternoon at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Individual Championships at the Burt Reese Tennis Center on the campus of Bloomsburg University.

In doubles action, Gabriella Lerario Dos Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Dante Alighieri) and Sohana Thompson (Fairfield, Oh/The Seven Hills School) won their opening round match over the Lock Haven duo of Olivia Anastos and Mia Shuler by a final of 8-1. The duo fell to the IUP pairing of Ming Deewajee and Daniela Ramos by a final of 8-0 in the quarterfinal round.

In singles play, Ashleigh Grooms (Newport, Ky./The Summit Country Day School) defeated Sherin Paul in her first match by a 6-0, 6-0 final, while Delaney Tingle (Charlotte, N.C./Palm Desert High) won her match by a 6-2, 6-4 final of Amaia Balaguer Brau of Slippery Rock. These victories set up a West Chester vs West Chester matchup in the round of 16, which was won by Tingle by a 3-6, 6-1, 10-8 final to advance to the quarterfinals on Monday morning.

Tingle will face Gabriela Del Val Del Toro in the Quarterfinals on Monday morning beginning at 11:45 a.m.
