BLOOMSBURG, Pa.- Delaney Tingle (Charlotte, N.C./Palm Desert High) continued her run through the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Individual Tournament on Monday, winning a pair of matches to become the first Golden Ram to reach the Finals of the Tournament since Claire Uhle in 2014.
"The run she is on right now is amazing," said head coach
Tina Tharp. "She is our first finalist since Claire Uhle so I'm very excited that we are back on this stage," continued the Golden Rams mentor.
Tingle, who was unseeded at the beginning of the Tournament, continued her impressive run on Monday, defeating 5-8 seed Gabriela Del Val Del Toro (Slippery Rock) in her quarterfinal match by a 6-1, 6-1 final before defeating another 5-8 seed in Roisin Murphy (Merychurst) by a 7-6 (8-6), 2-6, 10-7 final to advance to the finals against top-seed Kayla Dean of Mercyhurst.
Due to a scheduling quirk involving travel to the ITA Cup in Georgia for Dean of Mercyhurst, Tuesday's Championship match will be delayed, until a date yet to be determined. Additional information regarding the scheduling of the Championship match between Tingle and Dean will be announced by the PSAC office.
