MEET RESULTS
STATEN ISLAND, NY – One PSAC qualifier and several personal bests displayed Friday night in West Chester University's women's indoor track & field season opener at Ocean Breeze on Staten Island.
Lily Palacio-Lewis (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) hit a personal best in the Invitational portion of the 60-meter dash prelims, clocking a time of 7.83 seconds that was also good for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifier and the second fastest time at West Chester. She followed up with a 7.84 in the finals that placed her third overall. Palacio-Lewis was also 14th in the 200m.
Lyndi Wall (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) and
Gabrielle Curtis (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) each tied for second while
Katja Larsen (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) placed third in the 60m dash Open portion. Wall and Curtis each posted a time of 8.22 seconds while Larsen crossed the line in 8.25.
Genevieve McDonald (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) was sixth in 8.27 seconds. For Larsen and McDonald, their times were each personal bests. Curtis and McDonald also notched personal bests in the 200m with times of 26.98 and 27.90, respectively.
In the 60m hurdles,
Kamryn Fontaine (DuBois, Pa./DuBois Area) places 12
th with a time of 10.26 in her West Chester debut.
In the mile,
Ellie Goldberg (West Deptford, N.J.) and
Jenny Weiss (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Twp.) fifth and ninth, respectively. Goldberg posted a time of 5 minutes, 30.47 seconds, and Weiss a 5:40.53. Each of those times were personal bests for the distance runners. Goldberg also PR'd in the 800m, placing 11th in 2:34.08. Weiss finished 14th.
Josey George (Oxford, Pa./Walnut Grove) finished fourth in the 3000m with a time of 11:03.71 and
Abigail Marion (S. Abington Twp./Abington Heights) was seventh in 11:13.67.
In the field events,
Zhariya Washington (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) was third in the shot put while
Emma Deyarim (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) was fifth. Washington put the shot 38 feet, 11 inches, and Deyarim put it 36-2 ¾. Deyarim placed 17th in the weight throw as well to finish a nice performance overall in her first college meet.
Katie Pieslak (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) placed third in the long jump with a leap of 17-3. Larsen was 16th with a mark of 15-7.
Jade Salmon placed fourth in the high jump, clearing 4-11.
West Chester competes at the Bow Tie Invitational hosted by Ursinus College next Friday afternoon.
