INDIANAPOLIS- Currently riding a 10-game winning streak, the West Chester softball team (31-12) appeared on the list of Division II softball teams under consideration to make the NCAA Division II Softball Tournament when it begins in May.
The Division II Softball Regional Committees released their first Regional Ranking of the year this afternoon, listing teams in alphabetical order, showing which schools are under consideration for a numbered ranking when that begins next Wednesday (4/26). Two more regional rankings are due to come out before the NCAA Tournament field is announced on NCAA.com on May 7
th with rankings set to be released on 4/26 and 5/3.
West Chester who is also receiving votes in the NFCA DII Coaches Poll this week, is one of six teams from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) to appear in the initial rankings, joined by East Stroudsburg, Millersville, Seton Hill, Shippensburg, and Slippery Rock.
West Chester, a four-time Atlantic Region Champion (2014, 17, 18, 19, 21) is seeking a return to the NCAA Tournament after missing the Tournament a season ago for the first time since the 2012 season.
West Chester returns to action on Friday against East Stroudsburg at home in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. before hosting Bloomsburg on Saturday afternoon starting at 1 p.m. as well.
