Softball Ranked Ninth in Second NCAA Atlantic Regional Rankings

Full Rankings
WEST CHESTER, Pa.-
The NCAA Division II Softball committee released its latest Division II Softball Regional Rankings on Wednesday afternoon, and West Chester (24-22) was ranked ninth in the first numerical rankings of the 2026 season.

Shippensburg (32-14), who West Chester split with earlier this season, is atop the rankings, followed by East Stroudsburg (30-16) and Kutztown (31-17) as the PSAC East holds the top three spots in the Atlantic Regional rankings. Glenville State (33-13) is fourth, followed by Charleston (Wv.) (37-13) in fifth, with Lock Haven (26-20), Bloomsburg (25-17), and Shepherd (20-20) rounding out the top eight, followed by West Chester (24-22) and Fairmont State (32-10). Potentially notably, the CIAA does not have a team ranked in the top-10 in these rankings; however, their Conference Champion will once again receive an automatic bid, which would shift the bubble by at least one spot, assuming no upsets in the PSAC or Mountain East Tournaments.

One more set of Regional Rankings will be released next Wednesday before the NCAA Selection Show airs on NCAA.com on May 11 at 10 a.m.

West Chester heads into the final weekend of the regular season with work to be done in order to earn its spot in the PSAC Tournament field when play begins in Binghamton, New York, next week. West Chester went 2-4 last week, dropping a pair of doubleheaders to Kutztown and East Stroudsburg, and will now need to pick up important wins against Shepherd (at Shepherd on Friday) and Bloomsburg (home for Senior Day on Saturday) this weekend.
