LOCK HAVEN, PA - RS-Fr., left-handed pitcher,
Julian Costa (Mantua, N.J./Clearview), was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Pitcher of the Week it was announced Monday afternoon.
Costa was dealing last Friday afternoon at Serpico Stadium when he was throwing a nine-inning complete-game, three-hitter at the No. 14 team in the country to lift West Chester to a 6-0 win over East Stroudsburg. He walked two and struck out seven, facing four batters over the minimum. East Stroudsburg only had more than one base runner in the same inning once (second inning) and never advanced a runner to third. They were retired in order in six of the nine frames.
Costa is the first Golden Rams pitcher to win the award this spring. He is the second West Chester player to be honored in the weekly awards joining
John DeMucci, who was the PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Week on April 3.
West Chester will prepare for a crucial three-game series against Millersville this weekend.
