West Chester Ranked in First NCAA Regional Poll of the Season

INDIANAPOLIS, IND – West Chester University's baseball squad appeared in the first NCAA Atlantic Region poll released Wednesday afternoon.

The initial rankings this year in all Division II sports are listed alphabetically. Nine teams are ranked altogether, one of which is West Chester. The next two regular-season rankings will be listed in order (1 thru 9) based on merit. The top seven ranked schools will comprise the Atlantic Region and be split up into two pods – one 3-team site, and one 4-team site.

The top-ranked team in the region will host the 3-team site while the second-ranked team in the region will host the 4-team site. Those regionals will be a double-elimination format. The winners at each site will advance to the Atlantic Super Regional, which will be hosted by the highest remaining seed between the two advancing schools. That format will be a Best-of-3 series with the winner declared the Atlantic Region Champion, who will then advance to the NCAA Division II Championships in Cary, N.C.

West Chester (25-13) has two weeks left in the regular season with a pair of three-game series' against Millersville and Kutztown – both of which also appear in the initial regional poll. The nine schools listed alphabetically in that poll are:

Bloomsburg                        19-13
Charleston (WV)                  33-7
East Stroudsburg                 31-9
Kutztown                             24-15

Seton Hill                             33-7
