INDIANAPOLIS, In.- The Division II softball committee released its final Regional rankings of the year ahead of the selection show on Monday, May 8, and West Chester (36-15) was ranked second in the Atlantic Region once again, trailing only fellow PSAC East school East Stroudsburg.
West Chester captured a share of its first PSAC East Regular Season title a week ago with a pair of splits against Kutztown and Shippensburg before claiming the top seed in the PSAC Tournament via a tiebreak over ESU.
West Chester is one of seven PSAC teams in the top-10 of the rankings as East Stroudsburg holds the top spot while Shippensburg is fourth, Seton Hill is sixth, Kutztown is eighth, California (Pa.) is ninth, and Mercyhurst as 10
th as the final team in the 10-team regional rankings.
West Virginia Wesleyan retained the third spot in the rankings while Charleston (W.V.) moved into fifth, with Fairmont State occupying seventh as the final of three non-PSAC teams in the third rankings of the 2023 season.
West Chester is currently in action against Bloomsburg in its opening game of the PSAC Tournament. With a victory over the Huskies, West Chester would return to action tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. against Kuztown, while a loss would require West Chester to play an elimination game later this evening to stay alive in Quakertown.
