COLLEGE PARK, MD –
Jordan Coleman broke a school record on the uneven bars, and West Chester University tied its ninth-best overall team score in school history with a season-opening high score of 193.775 against homestanding Maryland inside the Xfinity Center Friday night.
The Terps defeated the Golden Rams, 196.150-193.775, but plenty of routines shined for the short-handed purple & gold against a nationally ranked opponent. The most impressive of those performances was
Jordan Coleman's (Bowie, Md.) 9.925 on bars, which was good for first place and a new school record, in the junior's only visit inside her home state for the 2024 campaign.
Senior
Kristina Rodriguez (Cincinnati, Ohio) set a new personal best on the vault with a score of 9.7. She finished seventh overall. Fellow senior
Kiley Fred (Highland Mills, N.Y.) posted a new personal high on the floor exercise with a 9.8. She tied for fourth on the floor as a result.
Maryland native
Lily McFarland (Baltimore, Md.), making her final college appearance in the Old Line State and teammate
Natalie Marshall (Bolton, Mass.) tied the school record on the balance beam. The two Golden Rams posted identical scores of 9.875.
Freshman
Corinne Gruber (Barto, Pa.) put up a 9.725 on the floor in her first college competition.
West Chester returns to action next Friday when the Golden Rams travel west to take on Boise State, Air Force and San Jose State in Boise, ID. Meet begins at 9 p.m. EST.
