Women's Track and Field Opens 2024 at Collegeville Classic

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa.- Annika Hummel (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) and Lily Palacio-Lewis (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) both picked up victories for the West Chester University women's track and field team on Saturday afternoon to help lead the Golden Rams to a second-place team finish at the Collegeville Classic hosted by Ursinus College.

West Chester finished second in the team standings with 106 points on the afternoon.

Hummel picked up a victory in the pole vault, clearing a mark of 11 feet 11 ¾ inches to hit a PSAC Qualifying mark, while Emily Donegan (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) and Emma Bronowicz (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) tied for second as they each cleared a mark of 10 feet. Kaylie Groff (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) also finished in the top five, clearing a height of 9-6 ¼ to finish fifth.

Adrianna Bryant (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) finished fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 43-6, which also tied for seventh best in program history, while Emma Deyarmin (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) hit a new PR in this event, finishing seventh with a mark of 37-10. Deyarmin also finished fifth in the shot put, putting the shot 37-8 ¾ as the top Golden Ram finisher.

Katie Pieslak (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) tied her season best in the triple jump with a PSAC Qualifiying mark of 36-5 ¾ to finish second, while Ozioma Ottih (Elkins Park, Pa./Cheltenham) was third with a mark of 33-9. Pieslak and Ottih also finished seventh and ninth in the long jump, registering marks of 16-5 ¾ and 15-11 ¾, respectively. Pieslak's effort in the long jump also serves as the sixth-best in indoor program history.

On the track, Lily Palacio Lewis (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) set a new PR and won the 60-meter dash with a PSAC Qualifying time of 7.80 seconds, improving upon her preliminary time of 7.92, which also won her that heat. Gabrielle Curtis (Harrisburg, Pa./C.D. East) finished third in the 60 with a time of 8.29 seconds. Palacio Lewis also led the team in the 200, finishing second in 26.37 seconds, while Curtis was seventh in 27.61 seconds.

Kamryn Fontaine (DuBois, Pa./DuBois Area) finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 10.48 seconds.

Brianna Ribic (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) continued a strong day for the Golden Ram sprinters with a second-place finish in the 55-meter dash with a time of 8.54 seconds.

Genevieve McDonald (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) finished sixth in the 400 with a new personal-best time of 1:04.20 while also finishing ninth in the 200 in 27.94 seconds.

Kristina Tapia (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) led West Chester in a pair of races on Saturday afternoon, finishing second in the mile in a personal-best time of 5:24.30 before finishing fourth in the 800 with another PR-time of 2:26.83. Josey George (Oxford,Ga./Walnut Grove) finished fifth in the mile, crossing the line in 5:33.44.  Ellie Goldberg (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) was the third Golden Ram in the top-10 of the mile, crossing the line in seventh in 5:37.82.
