STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.- The West Chester University men's track and field team got its 2024-25 indoor season underway on Friday afternoon at the Fast Track Season Opener at Ocean Breeze.
Daniel Schikel (Prospect Park, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) took fifth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.35 seconds, while
Amarre Mayo (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) led West Chester in the 60-meter dash with a 19
th-place finish in 7.05 seconds. Mayo also finished 24
th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.80 seconds. Schikel's 60-meter hurdle time also served as an early PSAC Qualifying time.
Mayo's 60-meter time also served as a new PR and a PSAC Qualifying time for the senior sprinter.
Jason Shumaker (Norristown, Pa./Methacton) led West Chester in the mile with a 10
th-place finish in a new personal-best time of 4:32.20, while
Matthew Remishofski (Wall, N.J./Wall) led the Golden Rams in the 800 with a third-place finish in 1:56.20, which was a PSAC Qualifying time as well.
West Chester also captured eighth through 11th in the 5K as
Jason Vogt (Southampton, Pa./William Tennent) and
Luke Pikulski (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) took eighth and ninth in 15:55.50 and 16:03.50, respectively.
Matthew Landis (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) and
Sean Fisher (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) were 10
th and 11
th in this race, finishing in times of 16:08.10 and 16:11.40, respectively.
The Golden Rams 4x800 relay team took second in 8:17.70, while the 4x400 squad finished eighth in 3:25.90.
Sammy Jenkins (Malvern, Pa./Conestoga) finished fourth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 13 feet 11 ¼ inches (4.25m).
Derrick Lukomski-Pizzo (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) picked up two top-five finishes of his own, finishing third in the shot put with a mark of 49-8 (15.14m) and fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 47-4 (14.43m).
Lukomski-Pizzo's effort in the shot put also served as a PSAC Qualifying mark.
