Gymnastics Heads To William & Mary for GEC Dual With The Tribe

MEET NOTES

WILLIAMSBURG, VA
- West Chester University travels down to William & Mary for a Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) matchup with The Tribe. William & Mary is the third GEC school that the Golden Rams have face this winter, following Brown University and University of Bridgeport last Monday at the All-American Challenge at Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut. It marks the second meet in five days for West Chester, which had been rolling along on a five-match winning streak prior to its trip to New England. The Golden Rams look to get back on track this weekend against a William & Mary squad that is also looking to make some improvements.

Saturday presents an excellent opportunity for the Golden Rams to pick up a win over a Division I school, but also to gain some momentum and confidence against a GEC opponent. Saturday marks the final meet of the month of February, which means the end of the season is lurking around the corner. The time is right for West Chester to show what they can do when the GEC Championships sneak up on them in late March.

WCU LAST TIME OUT
Jordan Coleman (Bowie, Md.) placed first on the uneven bars to lead West Chester to a third-place finish during The Podium – the NCAA competition portion of the All-American Challenge – held at Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut Monday afternoon.

West Chester scored a 192.825 as a team. They were paired with Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) foes Brown and University of Bridgeport. Coleman posted a 9.8 to win the bars during West Chester's pod. Hyla Betts (Shannock, R.I.) tied for third with a 9.775 while Sarah Eskew (Pittsburgh, Pa.) tied for fifth with a 9.75. Lily McFarland (Baltimore, Md.) tied for third on the balance beam for the Golden Rams with a 9.8. Madison Whitaker (Lancaster, Pa.) was eighth.

Caroline Cascadden (Ashburn, Va.) was third on the floor with a 9.825 to lead West Chester in that event.
