Hummel and Palacio-Lewis Set New Program Records to Lead Women's Track and Field on First Two Days of Busy Weekend

Bronx, N.Y.- The West Chester University women's track and field squad returned to action this weekend in an action-packed weekend as the Golden Rams have already competed twice, competing the historic New York City Armory on Friday night in the Rutgers Scarlet Knight Open and today at the Penn State Sykes & Sabock Open. West Chester will conclude its competition studded weekend tomorrow at the DeSchriver Invitational hosted by East Stroudsburg.

Annika Hummel (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) and Lily Palacio-Lewis (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) headlined the Golden Rams in action so far this weekend once again, setting a pair of program records in the pole vault and 60-meter dash at Penn State, respectively. In the pole vault, Hummel cleared a program record height of 12 feet 1 ½ inches (13.70 meters) to finish fifth, while also hitting a new PSAC and NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark.

For Palacio-Lewis, she set a new program record and PR in the 60-meter finals, finishing sixth in a time of 7.72 seconds before continuing her spectacular day in the 200 with another PR time of 25.31 seconds, which is fourth fastest in team history.

On Friday night at the Armory, Kristina Tapia (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) headlined a group of three Golden Rams that all hit PRs in the mile, as she cross the line five minutes and 20.52 seconds to finish 40th, which was also just shy of a PSAC Qualifying time. Ellie Goldberg (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) came in 51st with a time of 5:29.71 seconds for a personal best of her own, while Anna Quackenbush (Oakton, Va./Virginia) was next with a personal best of her own coming in at 5:45.26 seconds.
