WEST CHESTER, Pa.-The West Chester University women's track and field team returned to the track on Friday night for one final meet under the lights of John A. Farrell Stadium as the Golden Rams hosted the WCU Last Chance Invitational on a rainy Friday evening in West Chester. West Chester earned three event victories on Friday night, winning the 100, 800, and 5K in front of its home crowd.
Lily Palacio-Lewis (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) hit a new PR in the 100-meter dash, crossing the line in 12.05 seconds to finish first, while
Gabby Curtis (Harrisburg, Pa./C.D. East) was fourth in 12.98 seconds. Palacio-Lewis moved into fourth in program history in this event, passing Sandra Jackson and Diamond Jones, who had identical times of 12.07 seconds.
Curtis also led a trio of Golden Rams in the 200, placing third in 27.12 seconds, while
Jade Williams (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) and
Katie Pieslak (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) were fourth and fifth in times of 27.89 and 28.48 seconds, respectively.
Kristina Tapia (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) led a host of Golden Rams in the 800, placing first in a time of 2 minutes and 26.20 seconds, while
Joli Golembiewski (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) was second in 2:26.67, and
Ellie Goldberg (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) was third in 2:27.94. Golembiewski and Goldberg both hit new PRs in this event, as did
Josey George (Oxford, Ga./Walnut Grove), who placed fourth in 2:28.38.
Tapia and Golembiewski also went 1,2 in the 5K, crossing the lines in times of 20:03.71 and 20:03.84, while George was third in 22:10.34, followed by
Grace O'Brien (Coatesville, Pa./Collegium Charter) in fourth in 22:10.35.
Kamryn Fontaine (Dubois, Pa./Dubois Area) placed second in the 100 hurdles, finishing in 16.66 seconds, which served as a new PR for the freshman as well. Fontaine also finished fourth in the 400 hurdles, crossing the line in 1:14.94.
