Women's Gymnastics Competes at Texas Woman's Tri-Meet

Kelly Finishes Second on Beam

The West Chester University women's gymnastics team returned to action on Friday night in Texas against perennial powers Texas Woman's (TWU) (3-0) and Southeast Missouri State (SEMO (2-6). West Chester started its longest road trip of the season with a team score of 191.775 to finish third in the three-team meet as TWU claimed the overall victory with a team score of 194.875, while SEMO was second with a 193.325.

On the floor, EmmaGrace Kelly (Bradenton, Fl.) led the way with a 9.700 to finish ninth individually while Gruber and Lily McFarland (Baltimore, Md.) registered scores of 9.765 and 9.625, respectively. Gruber finished in a tie for 10th as the second Golden Ram in the top-10 in this event.

On vault, Sarah Eskew (Pittsburgh, Pa.) led the team with a personal and team season-best score of 9.725 to finish in a tie for 11th, while Rylee Harada (Runnemede, N.J.) was 13th with a 9.600 in her collegiate debut in this event. Macarthy Keane (Trumbull, Ct.) posted a 9.575 on the vault, which served as a new season and career high for the junior, while Corrine Gruber (Barto, Pa.) also set a new season high with her 9.525.

Reigning USAG National Champion, Jordan Coleman (Bowie, Md) led West Chester on the bars with a 9.725, which was a team and individual season-high in the second meet of the year, while Eskew scored a 9.650 to post a season-high of her own. Coleman's effort allowed her to finish in a tie for sixth in this event, while Eskew placed 13th.  Hannah Elkins (Mukileto, Wa.) made her Golden Ram lineup debut with a 9.425 of her own.

Kelly also led West Chester on the balance beam, posting a score of 9.750, which served as both a season and career-high for the rookie, while also going as the highest score by a Golden Ram this season. Kelly's score also led to her finishing second in this event , trailing only Caroline Browns of TWU, who won the event with a 9.800. Natalie Marshall (Bolton, Ma.) also scored north of 9.6 in this event, finishing with a 9.625, while Caroline Cascadden (Ashburn, Va.) and Catherine Keener (Holly Springs, N.C.) registered scores of 9.575 and 9.500, respectively. Cascadden's 9.575 is a new season-high for her, while Keener made her Golden Ram debut on beam.
