WEST CHESTER, Pa.-
With the calendar now officially turned to 2025, the West Chester University women's track and field team is preparing for its first Meet Day of the New Year on Saturday as the Golden Rams are scheduled to compete at the Alvernia Winter Invitational on Saturday morning inside the Flynn Plex Athletic Center at Alvernia. The 2025 edition of the Alvernia Winter Invitational will see field events begin at 10 a.m. with track events getting underway at 10:30 beginning with the 4x800 relays. All events will follow a rolling schedule.

The last time we saw the Golden Rams was in mid-December when the team ventured to Ocean Breeze for the second week in a row to compete in the Wagner Shootout on Friday, December 13.

Kristina Tapia (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) earned PSAC Track Athlete of the Week honors after she set a pair of PRs and PSAC Qualifying times in the mile and 3K, including a second-place finish in the mile in 5:14.63 to lead the West Chester University women's track and field squad at the Wagner College Shootout.

Lily Palacio-Lewis (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) led West Chester in the 60-meter dash with a 12th-place finish in 7.86 seconds, which matched her season-best time from the season opener. Palacio Lewis also paced West Chester in the 300 meters with a new personal-best time of 41.74 seconds to finish 20th.

Tapia impressed in the mile again, finishing second in five minutes and 14.63 seconds, which served as a new PR and PSAC Qualifying time. Tapi also set a new PR and PSAC Qualifying time in the 3K with a 10:20.62, which was good enough for eighth place in this event. Rebecca Kramer (Washington Boro, Pa./Penn Manor) and Grace O'Brien (Coatesville, Pa./Collegium Charter) also set new PRs in the mile, crossing the line 5:45.92 and 6:05.01, respectively.

Ellie Goldberg (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) also set a new PR in the 3K, finishing 12th with a time of 10:49.14.

West Chester placed sixth in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:44.83 and 15th in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:40.13.

Jade Salmon (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chilli) finished 16th in the high jump with a mark of 4 feet 10 ¼ inches (1.48m), while Emily Donoghen (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) took third in the pole vault with a mark of 10-10 (3.30m).

Ryan Layton (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) finished 20th in the long jump with a mark of 16-10 ¾ (5.15m), while Victoria Gbodi (Drexel Hill, Pa./Milton Hershey) took 12th in the triple jump with a mark of 36-8 ¼ (11.18m). Gbodi's mark also served as a PSAC Qualifying mark for the rookie.

The Golden Rams made some significant adjustments to their Winter 2025 schedule as the team is no longer expected to return to Ocean Breeze but will compete at Alvernia twice, Ursinus, Haverford, and Penn's new indoor facility as part of a pair of Widener Invitationals. The Golden Rams remain scheduled to visit Bucknell at the end of January and Penn State twice in February ahead of the PSAC Championships at Lehigh on March 1st and 2nd.
