READING, Pa.-The West Chester University men's track and field opened 2025 with a host of top-10 finishes on Saturday afternoon at the Alvernia Winter Invitational.
Damian Simpson (Easton, Pa./Wilson) finished second in the 60 meter dash with a time of 6.87 after qualifying into the finals with a preliminary time of 6.86 seconds, which served as a PR and PSAC Qualifying time.
Amarre Mayo (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) also finished in the top-five in this event, finishing fourth in 6.98 seconds with a PR and PSAC Qualifying time of his own.
In the 60 meter hurdles,
Daniel Schikel (Prospect Park, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) finished second with a time of 8.36 seconds after earning his spot in the finals with a prelim time of 8.41 seconds, which was also second fastest in the field.
Josh Farrell (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) took third in the 200 with a time of 22.98 seconds.
Christopher Stinson (Philadelphia, Pa.) led West Chester in the 400 with a time of 54.02 seconds to finish 14
th.
West Chester also took fifth in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:37.04 before finishing second in the 4x400 relay in 3:32.97.
Derrick Johnson (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan) took 13
th in the high jump with a mark of 5 feet 8 ¾ inches (1.75 meters).
Devin Carlson Swank (Elliotsburg, Pa./Connections Charter) led West Chester in the pole vault with a fourth place finish and a mark of 14 -1 ¼ (4.30m).
Derrick Lukomski-Pizzo (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North), who enjoyed a breakout season in 2024, finished third in the shot put with a mark of 50-3 ½ (15.33m), while also finishing seventh in the weight throw with a mark of 48-7 ¼ (14.81m). Both of these marks served as PSAC Qualifying marks, while his effort in the shot put was also a new personal best.
Chase Parkinson (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) placed sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 45-5 ¾ (13.86m), which served as a new PR and PSAC Qualifying mark.
