Men's Track and Field Competes at Widener Winter Evenings Invite

PHILADELPHIA- The West Chester University men's track and field team was back in action this weekend at the Widener Winter Evenings Invite. The Golden Rams competed in track events and select field events on Friday night at the newly opened Ott Center on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania before competing in throws on Saturday afternoon at Widener.

Amarre Mayo (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) finished eighth in the 200 with a season-best time of 22.46 seconds, while David Burnshaw (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) was 15th in the 400 in 51.10 seconds.

Devin Carlson-Swank (Elliotsburg, Pa.) took fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 13 feet 11 ¼ inches (4.25m).

Billy Zane (Springfield, Pa./Springfield DELCO) took 25th in the 800 with a time of 203.07

West Chester took third in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:24.57.

Derrick Lukomski-Pizzo (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) finished fifth in both the shot put and weight throw with PSAC Qualifying marks of 45-8 ¾ (14.85m) and 49-10 (15.19m). His mark in the weight throw served as a new personal best, while Ben Thornton (Lincoln University, Pa./Salesianum) turned in a season-best in the weight throw with a mark of 44-4 ¾ (13.53m).

West Chester will be back in action next weekend at a pair of meets as the team will compete in the Bucknell Multi next Friday and Saturday and back at Alvernia next Saturday afternoon.
