Audra Szymborski Named NFHCA National Defensive Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – West Chester University sophomore goalkeeper, Audra Szymborski (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East), was named the National Field Hockey Coaches Associatoin (NFHCA) defensive athlete of the week early Wednesday morning.
 
Szymborski backstopped West Chester to a pair of wins last week over nationally ranked opponents. She helped West Chester beat No. 7 Mansfield, 3-2, on Wednesday and then upset No. 3 East Stroudsburg, 2-1 in overtime on Saturday. Szymborski made 13 saves on 16 shots. She tied a season-high with nine saves in the win over East Stroudsburg. She made four saves in the win over Mansfield. As a result, the sophomore keeper was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's defensive athlete of the week as well.
 
Szymborski earns her second national citation as a result of hre outstanding play. Last year, for Wingate University in the South Atlantic Conference, Szymborski was named the NFHCA national defensive player of the week on Oct. 9, 2024.
 
West Chester takes on Millersville Wednesday at Vonnie Gros Field at 5 p.m.
