WEST CHESTER, Pa.- Abiah Lane (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) registered a match-best 13 kills while
CeCe Isenberg (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) added 11 more to help lead the West Chester University women's volleyball team (13-3, 3-1) to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-20) win over Bloomsburg (7-9, 0-5) in Hollinger Field House on Friday night.
Lacie Brown (Cochranville, Pa./Avon Grove) ran the Golden Ram offense to perfection on Friday night, registering 44 assists in the win. Lane registered a double-double with a team-best 12 digs and five aces, while
Elianna Freeman (Jersey Village, Tx./Jersey Village) finished with 11 digs of her own.
West Chester hit .409 in the sweep, including a .625 (16-1-24) effort in the first set and never hit below .300 in any set, hitting .321 (15-6-28) in the second set and .333 (17-5-36) in the third.
West Chester trailed by a pair early but roared back with a 7-0 run, including a pair of aces by
Abiah Lane (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) to take a 7-2 lead. Bloomsburg roared back and cut the lead to 21-17 before West Chester closed out the set with a
Cece Isenberg (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) kill, her sixth of the evening, to lift the Golden Rams to a 25-19 first-set victory.
The second set saw the two teams trade points throughout the early going before West Chester went on a mid-set run to take an 18-14 lead, prompting the first Bloomsburg timeout of the second set. Isenberg closed out the second set the same way she closed out the first, picking up her ninth kill of the evening to give the Golden Rams a 25-20 lead.
The third set followed a similar script with West Chester and Bloomsburg trading points before a late-set run, which included a pair of
Maeve Gallagher (Pottstown, Pa./Pope John Paul II) kills and a
Zoe Haines (York, Pa./York Suburban) block, gave West Chester a 19-15 lead and prompted a Bloomsburg timeout. Out of the timeout, West Chester and Bloomsburg traded points, but West Chester's mid-set lead was enough as the Golden Rams closed out the set with a 25-20 victory and a 3-0 win in the match after a kill by Lane.
Allison Saalfrank led Bloomsburg in kills with nine and hit .348, while Marlee Johnson hit a team-best .421 with eight kills. Bloomsburg hit .224 (29-10-85) in the loss.
