SCOUTING THE GOLDEN RAMS
The Golden Rams (1-1) are coming off a loss to Division III powerhouse New York University. West Chester performed well in the men's 1000-yard freestyle and the 200 butterfly, where Paul Demesy (Saint Ulrich, France) and Nathan Noel (Destrehan, La./Destrehan) stood out. Demesy also won the 500 free in a time of 4 minutes, 40.57 seconds. His winning time in the 1000 free was 9:32.07. Noel's winning time in the 200 fly was 1:55.11. Burkhart posted a winning score of 286.5 off the 1-meter springboard while amassing 291.75 off the 3m board to win that event. Michael Finlaw (Warrington, PA Central Bucks South) placed fourth in the 1m with a score of 229.13. He was fifth off the 3m board. Teammate Dominick Horning (Williamsport, PA Loyalsock) was fourth off the 3m board just ahead of Finlaw while placing fifth off the 1m board. Freshman Jed Alderfer (Plymouth Meeting, PA Plymouth-Whitemarsh) was sixth off both boards.
SCOUTING THE MOUTAIN HAWKS
The Mountain Hawks (1-1) kicked off their season in a Tri-Meet against Loyola and American University. Lehigh lost 250-48 against Loyola, but picked up their first win against American University 209-84. Sophomore Jack Deppe made the biggest impact for Lehigh, finishing within the top five over all three of his individual events. His best placing was the 200-yard individual medley, where he finished second. His time of 1:54.41 was just 11 one-hundredths of a second behind the top finisher. Deppe came fourth in both the 100 and 200 freestyle, finishing in 46.69 seconds over the 100 and 1:42.88 over the 200. In the backstroke events, senior Ben Kisker worked his way to two top finishes. Two freshmen started their careers with podium finishes in their respective events. Spencer Campbell placed third in the 200 butterfly, swimming 1:53.88. Andrew Takach finished the 200 breast stroke with a time of 2:08.97, which also gave him third place.
THE WEST CHESTER - LEHIGH SERIES
West Chester's men hold a 13-8 lead in the overall series with Lehigh dating back to 2003. The Golden Rams have come away victorious over the Mountain Hawks in each of the last three meetings, including the last time these two met at Jacobs Pool.
