The two teams enter Saturday's conference tilt headed in completely different directions. Kutztown is undefeated on the year and well on its way to a third straight appearance in the "State Game". The Golden Bears are ranked fourth nationally in the most recent American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) coaches poll. Meanwhile, The Golden Rams continue to fight the injury bug to, hopefully, get healthy for a late-season surge. All three of the team's captains missed last week's game at Lock Haven. Starting quarterback, and last year's player of the year in the division, is among those trying to nurse their way back into the lineup. Injuries have certainly taken their toll on the Golden Rams in 2025.
Â
The positive side to injuries is that West Chester has gotten a chance to look at some of its younger talent, and there have been some outstanding performances from the likes of quarterback
Colin O'Sullivan and wide receiver
Dylan McKenzie. A trio of tight ends have also made their way into the rotation and have seen playing time in the past month.
Â
West Chester's defense is still among the top units in the conference – especially against the pass. The Golden Rams lead the PSAC in interceptions and safeties
Jamir Reyes and
Jimmy Wright are a spectacular tandem in the secondary. That defense will be tested today against one of the highest scoring offenses in Division II.
West Chester will host Bloomsburg next Saturday (Nov. 1). It will mark the first time all season that the Golden Rams will play at home in consecutive weekends.
