Day One Results
GAMBIER, OHIO – West Chester University posted three NCAA 'B' Cut times in the 500-yard freestyle on the first day of the Total Performance Invitational inside the Steen Aquatic Center on the campus of Kenyon College Thursday evening.
Freshman
Marti Rosell Diez (L'Albiol, Spain) won the 500 free by touching the wall in 4 minutes, 23.93 seconds.
Paul Demesy (Saint Ulrich, France) was second in 4:24.88, and
Danny Dunigan was seventh in 4:31.38. All three times were B-times for the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships next March.
Kolos Nagy (Szazhalombatta, Hungary) was runner-up in the 200 individual medley in a time of 1:49.29. That was also good for an NCAA B-Cut time. West Chester placed three swimmers in the Top 12 in that event.
Christian Henry was eighth (1:52.07) while
Nathan Noel (Destrehan, LA Destrehan) (1:51.69) was 12th after finishing runner-up in the B-Final.
Junior
Till Schroeder (Wiesbaden, Germany) placed seventh in the 50 free with a time of 20.47 that ranks eighth best in school history. Schroeder also anchored the 400 medley relay that placed third in 3:17.93. Henry swam butterfly portion on that relay.
Freshman
Bartosz Brzozowski (Warsaw, Poland) led off the 400 medley relay by swimming the backstroke in a time of 49.14 that is good for fifth all-time in WCU history.
The 200 medley relay led off the action on Day One with West Chester's 'A' squad taking ninth place and its 'B' squad taking 13th.
West Chester will be back in the pool again Friday morning for prelims and then the finals at 5:30 p.m.
