SHIPPENSBURG, PA – Shippensburg scored 29 unanswered points in the second half to turn a tie game into a 43-14 rout at Seth Grove Stadium Saturday afternoon.
West Chester (4-6, 2-5 PSAC East) gave up nine points on its special teams as an attempted punt out of the back of its own end zone midway through the third quarter rolled out of bounds after a bad snap, and Shippensburg (3-7, 3-4) returned another punt 70 yards for a score late in the fourth quarter to put the finishing touches on the game.
Shippensburg running back, Andre Weidman, scored the first four touchdowns of his career in the win. He finished with 168 rushing yards on the day, including a 60-yard scoring jaunt.
For West Chester,
Dylan McKenzie (Oreland, PA/Springfield (MONTCO) caught four passes for a career-high 144 yards, including a 77-yard catch-and-run. However, starting quarterback,
Cooper Jordan (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) went 13-for-25 for 200 yards and two TDs. But, he threw three interceptions.
West Chester mustered just 66 yards rushing on the ground in the loss.
Defensively,
Jimmy Wright (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) and
Connor Noble Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) each posted 10 tackles.
West Chester will conclude its 2025 campaign next Saturday at home against Assumption University at Farrell Stadium on Senior Day.
