Women's Track and Field Set for Wagner Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze on Friday Night

WEST CHESTER, Pa.-
After a busy two-meet weekend to open the 2025-26 campaign last weekend, the West Chester University women's track and field squad will be back in action on Friday evening at the Wagner Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze on Staten Island for its final meet of 2025.

West Chester makes its first of two scheduled trips to Ocean Breeze on Friday as the Golden Rams wrap up 2025 with their last meet until a January 17 trip to Alvernia. The Golden Rams will return to Ocean Breeze in February for the Fast Track Invitational on February 6.

West Chester was in action in two separate meets last weekend as the Golden Rams sent a small distance contingent to the historic New York City Armory for the Armory Distance Carnival on Friday, while most of the team made the trek to Bucknell for the Bison Opener on Friday and Saturday.

At the Armory, Kristina Tapia (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) and Jessalyn Welsh (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro) finished inside the top-10 in the 5K with PSAC Qualifying times of 17 minutes and 21.16 seconds and 18:23.63, respectively. Megan Werner (Bristol, Pa./Conwell Egan) took 11th with a PSAC Qualifying time of her own of 18:39.61.

At Bucknell, Amanda Marquis (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) placed in the top 11 in all five categories of the pentathlon. Marquis ran 2 minutes 36.02 seconds, earning runner-up in the 800m, concluding with an impressive overall score of 2,623.
Kaylie Groff (Palmyra, Pa. Palmyra) placed fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 11 feet, 01.75 inches. Hannah Lafave (Spring Brook Township, Pa./North Pocono) finished sixth, clearing 11-01.75. Emily Donegan ( Hershey, Pa./Hershey) tied for 11th in the event with a mark of 10-08.00.

Molly Minor (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) placed fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.12, and Genevieve McDonald (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) placed seventh. Kaitlynn Keller (Dallas, Pa. / Dallas) won the 500m with a time of 1:26.19. Kamryn Fontaine (Dubois, Pa./Dubois Area) finished fourth in the event, running 1:30.96. Katharine Thomas (West Chester, Pa.) placed fifth overall with a time of 1:33.98.

West Chester's 'A' squad finished second in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:20.03.

Up Next

Friday night is West Chester's final meet of 2025 as the Golden Rams will not return to the track again until January 17 at Alvernia for the Alvernia Winter Invitational.
