WEST CHESTER, Pa.- Lily McFarland (Baltimore, Md.) turned in individual event victories on both the balance beam and floor and set a new career-high on the floor to help lead the West Chester University women's gymnastics team (5-7) to a 192.800-191.700 victory over SUNY-Brockport and a 192.800-188.000 victory over SUNY-Cortland on Saturday afternoon.
West Chester won three of four events as
Jordan Coleman (Bowie, Md.) earned a victory on bars with a season-high matching 9.750. West Chester erased an early deficit with a season-best 48.850 score on the beam in its third rotation and extended its lead with another season-best effort on the floor as the Golden Rams scored a 48.825 to place first in the tri-meet in front of an outstanding alumni day crowd in the Sturzebecker Health Science Center.
West Chester started its afternoon on vault with a 47.675 team score, led by a 9.700 from
Rylee Harada (Runnemede, N.J.), which served as a new season-high for the rookie and led to her finishing third.
Lily McFarland (Baltimore, Md.) also scored a 9.650, which served as a new season high and was good enough for a fourth-place finish.
Jordan Coleman (Bowie, Md.) led West Chester on bars with a 9.750, which matched her season-high and was enough for the senior to take first.
Melina Ringas (Glen Allen, Va.) scored a 9.650, which was a new season-high for her and good enough for third place as well, while
MacCarthy Keane (Trumbull, Ct.) hit a new career-high on the bars with a 9.550 to finish fifth.
Tatum McGuinn (Tatum, McGuinn) also scored a new season and career-high on the bars with a 9.350 to help West Chester record a team score of 47.400.
West Chester scored a season-high 48.850 on beam to take a 143.925-143.600 lead over Brockport heading into the final rotation of the afternoon. McFarland scored a season-high 9.825 on the beam to lead West Chester and earn her first of two event wins on the day, while
Caroline Cascadden (Ashburn, Va.) and
EmmaGrace Kelly (Bradenton, Fl.) each registered season-best scores of 9.800 to finish in a tie for second.
Tatum McGuinn (Glen Mills, Pa.) and
Natalie Marshall (Bolton, Ma) also scored north of 9.700 in this event as McGuinn scored a season-high 9.725, which was good enough for fifth, while Marshall scored a 9.700 to match her season-high and finished in a tie for sixth.
On the floor, West Chester scored 48.825 and took each of the top three spots as McFarland earned her second event victory of the day with a career-high score of 9.875, while Kelly and Cascadden took second and third with scores of 9.825 and 9.800, respectively. Kelly matched her career-high with this score, while Cascadden set a new season-high.
Lydia Stoner (Palmyra, Pa.) registered a 9.675, while Marshall and
Catherine Keener (Holly Springs, N.C.) recorded scores of 9.650. Marshall's 9.650 came in the collegiate floor debut for the senior gymnast.
