Men's Track and Field Set for Widener Indoor Classic on Friday and Saturday

WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University men's track and field program is finishing its preparations for a packed weekend of competition at the Widener Classic, where the team will compete over the weekend on Friday and Saturday. The squad will start on Friday in Philadelphia and finish out the competition on Saturday.

The Golden Rams head into the weekend after a full weekend of competition last week, which saw the team compete in three meets-the Fasttrack National at Ocean Breeze on Friday, the Frank Colden Invite at Ursinus on Saturday and the Bruce Lehane Scarlett & White Invite at Boston University on Saturday.

On the track in Staten Island,  Nick Tran (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) took second in the 60m dash in 7.12 seconds, while David Burnshaw (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) competed in the 200 and 400, finishing 27th (22.77 seconds) and 39th (51.12 seconds), respectively.

In the pole vault, Devin Carlson Swank (Elliotsburg, Pa./Connections Charter) took second with a PSAC Qualifying height of 14 feet 9 inches (4.50m).

In Boston, Amarre Mayo (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) finished seventh in the 200 with a time of 22.44 seconds as the lone Division II student-athlete in the field.

Mayo and Josh Farrell (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) also competed in the 60-meter dash prelims, taking 19th in 7.10 and 7.29 seconds, respectively.
 
At Ursinus  Elijah Severe (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) placed 7th in the 60m dash with a finish in 9.21 seconds. Billy Zane (Springfield, Pa./Springfield DELCO) took ninth in the 400 in 53.51 seconds before also finishing 11th in the mile in 4:40.50.

Ben Thornton (Lincoln University, Pa./Salesianum) competed in the weight throw and finished seventh with a mark of 46-11 (14.3m).

Up Next:

West Chester will be back in action next weekend for another split-squad single and two-day meet at the Penn State Tune Up on February 21, and the Keogh Invitational on the 21st and 22nd.
