WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University women's track and field program is finishing its preparations for a packed weekend of competition at the Widener Classic, where the team will compete over the weekend on Friday and Saturday. The squad will start on Friday in Philadelphia and finish out the competition on Saturday.
Last Time Out
The Golden Rams head into the weekend after a full weekend of competition last week, which saw the team compete in three meets-the Fasttrack National at Ocean Breeze on Friday, the Frank Colden Invite at Ursinus on Saturday and the Bruce Lehane Scarlett & White Invite at Boston University on Saturday.
In Staten Island,
Annika Hummel (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) led the way with a fifth-place finish in 11 feet 5 ¾ inches (3.50M), which also doubled as a PSAC Qualifying time.
Kaylie Groff (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) took 11
th with a mark of 10-6 (3.2m).
At Ursinus,
Morgan Pera (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) won the 60m hurdles in a time of 9.72 seconds after qualifying into the finals with a time of 9.83 seconds, winning in her heat.
Cate Hildebrand (Chalfont, Pa./C.B. South) led West Chester in the 200 with a time of 28.35 seconds to place 15
th.
In the field events at Ursinus,
Jade Salmon (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chilli) led West Chester in the high jump, clearing a height of 4-11 (1.50m) to place fourth.
Zhayria Washington (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) turned in two top-five finishes of her own, taking fourth in the shot put with a mark of 41-1 ¾ (12.54m) before finishing second in the weight throw with a personal-best mark of 50-4 ½ (15.35m), while
Nikolien Bezuidenhout (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) finished sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 33-8 ½ (10.27m).
Amanda Marquis (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) competed in the multi's on Saturday, finishing third in the pentathlon with a score of 2,542. This effort included event victories in both the long jump (16-6; 5.03m) and 800 (2:38.98).
West Chester also placed fifth in the 4x400 relay in 4:39.67.
In Boston,
Lily Palacio Lewis (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) took sixth in the 60-meter dash in 7.87 seconds as the lone Division II competitor in the finals.
Palacio Lewis also took 33
rd in the Invite division of the 200 dash with a time of 25.7 seconds
In the open 200,
Katja Larsen (Spring City,Pa./Owen J. Roberts) took 24
th in 26.47 seconds, which served as a new PR.
