Day One Results
BETHLEHEM, Pa.-Annika Hummel (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg Area) became a PSAC Champion in the pole vault as she cleared a mark of 12 feet 1 ½ inches (3.70 meters), which served as a new season best and matches her program record mark from Penn State a year ago to help lead the West Chester University women's track and field squad on the first day of the PSAC Championships. Hummel's 11.5 points helped West Chester sit in eighth in the team standings with 14.5 points after the first day of competition at the Indoor Championships.
Hummel is West Chester's first women's indoor pole vault conference champion and is the highest individual finisher since Corah Krantz took second at the 2020 Championships.
Amanda Marquis (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) took 11
th in the pentathlon with a score of 2,623 points, including a third-place finish in the 800 in a time of 2 minutes and 33.82 seconds. Marquis finished 10
th in the 60 meter hurdles in 10.00 seconds and picked up another 10
th-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 16 feet 0 ½ inches.
West Chester took eighth in the Distance Medley Relay (DMR) in 12:43.34 to score the first track point of the weekend.
Zhayria Washington (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) took seventh in the weight throw with a mark of 50-4 ½ (15.35m).
Emily Donegan (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) and
Kaylie Groff (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) joined Hummel on the pole vault podium with marks of 10-11 ¾ (3.35m).
Lily Palacio Lewis (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) punched her ticket to the finals of the 60-meter dash on Sunday with a second-place prelim finish in 7.70 seconds. Palacio Lewis also finished fourth in the 200 prelims to advance to the Sunday finals in this event as well, crossing the line in 25.59 seconds.
Kristina Tapia (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) finished just off the podium in the 5K with a time of 18:20.39 to place ninth.
West Chester will be back in action tomorrow for the second and final day of the Indoor Championships.
