Women's Tennis to Host Goldey Beacom on Tuesday Afternoon

WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University women's tennis team (3-6) will step out of league play on Tuesday afternoon for a matchup with Goldey-Beacom (11-3) as the Golden Rams continue their four-match homestand.

West Chester opened PSAC East play against Millersville on Saturday, falling to the Marauders by a 5-2 final despite first and sixth singles victories by Delaney Tingle (3-6, 6-4, 1-0) and Sohana Thompson (6-1, 6-2). West Chester also won one of three doubles matches as the duo of Ashleigh Grooms and Thompson won their third- doubles match by a 6-2 final.

Scouting Goldey Beacom

Goldey Beacom visits West Chester on Tuesday afternoon with a record of 11-3 on the year after winning three straight over PSAC East teams with a pair of wins over Shippensburg earlier this month and a win over East Stroudsburg on March 22. On Saturday, Goldey Beacom topped ESU by a 5-2 final with a sweep of doubles by 6-4, 6-0, and 6-0 finals, while also posting wins at first, third, fifth, and sixth singles in the convincing victory.

In singles play, Sofia Lopez is 12-1 on the year, including 10 wins at fifth singles, while Lucia Corte is 11-3 with six wins at sixth singles and four at fifth singles. Zehra Canbaz is 10-5 on the year, including a 7-5 mark at second singles. In doubles play, Lopez and Elizabeth Mova are 5-2 at first singles while Canbaz and Nahomi Quinonez are 5-2 in second singles. Canbaz and Lopez are also 4-1 as a first-doubles pairing.
