Last Time We Saw Them
West Chester wrapped up its fall season with a 6-1 loss to St. Thomas Aquinas on South Campus in early October. Sam Robertson won his sixth singles match by a 7-6, 6-1 final to score the lone point of the afternoon for the Golden Rams. West Chester also won a third doubles match but dropped the first two matches to drop the doubles point as the Golden Rams slipped to 0-3 on the young season.
Heading South
West Chester ventures to Florida as part of its Spring Break trip once again in 2025 and will play four matches in five days as the team will face Eckerd, perennially strong Dallas Baptist on Monday, Division III Washington College (Md.) on Wednesday and Division I foe Niagara on Thursday to conclude its visit to Florida.
Jumping into It
When West Chester returns north of after its matchup against Division I foe Niagara on Thursday, the Golden Rams will jump into PSAC play at home against Millersville on Saturday, March 22 in the first of two straight at home (3/27 vs Salem) before visiting West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday the 29th for a 10 a.m. match.
Scouting the Opposition
Eckerd (5-2)
Eckerd heads into the weekend after defeating Loyola (Md.) 7-0 to stretch its winning streak to three in a row. This streak will be put to the test on Saturday as Edinboro visits before the Golden Rams challenge the Tritons on Sunday morning on what will also be Senior Day. Batau Ataseven is 6-1 at first singles this season, including wins in each of his last three, while also teaming with Mario Kirkov to go 3-4 at first doubles.
Dallas Baptist (5-2)
Dallas Baptist will play twice on Friday before departing for Florida and Monday's match against the Golden Rams, entering the weekend with a record of 5-2 after suffering its first two losses of the season last weekend, falling to Arkansas-Fort Smith and Southeastern Oklahoma State last Friday and Saturday. Matthew Abbey is 4-2 at first singles, and Arturo Langle is 4-1 in third singles to lead the Patriots in singles play. Langle and Abbey are 1-0 in first singles and 4-1 in second singles after dropping their first match of the year together over the weekend.
Washington College (2-2)
Washington College heads into next week at 2-2 on the year after going 2-2 through its first four matches of the Spring, including a 6-1 win over Goucher and a 4-3 win over Hampden-Sydney. The Shoremen will open their time in Florida on Monday vs Kenyon beginning at 6:30 before facing West Chester at 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Sihoo Kim is 4-4 at first singles on the year, while the pairing of Ravichandran and Wroblewski are 2-4 in doubles, including a pair of wins at second doubles.
Niagara (2-4)
Niagara heads into the weekend at 2-4 on the year with a road match at Merrimack on the calendar for today along with matchups vs North Dakota and North Carolina Central on the books for early next week in Florida. Niagara is just 1-4 so far this spring; its lone victory came at Duquesne on February 23 by a 5-2 final. Tanner Bedard is 9-2 at first singles, including 4-1 in league matches, while Vid Maric is 4-2 in second singles, 3-4 in third singles, and 1-0 in first singles. Bedard and Trevor Masi also make up the top doubles pairing for the Purple Eagles as they are 7-3 at first doubles on the season.
